Circular Philadelphia is jumpstarting a thriving circular economy in Philadelphia. Join us for the launch! Circular Philadelphia, a new organization focused on transforming the local waste system by jumpstarting a thriving circular economy in the greater Philadelphia region, is launching on June 14th, and we want you to be there as a leader who values circularity in your field.Circular Philadelphia is the first Philadelphia-based organization to convene local stakeholders of the growing global circular economy movement. By bringing together local policymakers, businesses, manufacturers, institutions and residents, Circular Philadelphia will focus on smart policy advocacy, infrastructure development and collaboration to overcome roadblocks and create the right market conditions to transform Philadelphia’s economy into a more circular and equitable one. The organization is founded by Nic Esposito, Philadelphia’s former Zero Waste and Litter Director, Samantha Wittchen, Principal of environmental sustainability consultancy iSpring, and Julie Hancher, Co-Founder and Editor of Green Philly. Event Speakers:At-large Philadelphia Councilmember Katherine Gilmore Richardson, Chair of the Committee on the Environment will give opening remarks about the circular economy in Philadelphia. Munish Narula and Marianne Kelly of local restaurant chain, Tiffin, will speak about their transition to reusable food containers and the value Circular Philadelphia can bring to supporting this effort. Founders Nic Esposito and Samantha Wittchen will outline how the organization intends to make the circular economy work in Philadelphia and beyond. Please register to attend. (Due to COVID-19 restrictions, we will be limiting attendance to those who have registered in advance to attend.) We hope you can make it on June 14th and join us as a leader in Philadelphia’s shift to an efficient and resilient circular economy of the future!COVID-19 UPDATE: As of May 21, the City of Philadelphia has updated its policy regarding mask-wearing indoors and outdoors. Therefore, Circular Philadelphia will not require fully vaccinated people to wear masks outdoors. People who are not fully vaccinated are required to wear masks except when eating and drinking. We advise that you bring your own mask.By attending,- I declare I am not experiencing or exhibiting any COVID-19 related symptoms as outlined by the federal and state Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) such as fever, dry cough, or shortness of breath.- I acknowledge I must follow the safety protocols including mask wearing and practicing social distancing and maintaining separation of six feet from individuals if I am not vaccinated. - I am not aware nor do I believe I have been recently exposed to a person or animal with a positive and confirmed case if COVID-19. - By signing up for this event, I acknowledge the contagious and evolving nature of COVID-19 and voluntarily assume the risk that I may be exposed to virus and become affected as a result.
