Description

The Levitt’s 2021 free live music series continues this weekend. Head to downtown Arlington for Texas Country, Psychedelic Rock and more... FRIDAY 6/4: Carolyn Wonderland (with Mitchell Ferguson) Headliner: A “musical force equipped with the soulful vocals of Janis and the guitar-slinging skills of Stevie Ray,” Grammy-nominated Carolyn Wonderland “reaches into the depths of the Texas blues tradition with the wit of a poet.” Carolyn’s songs have been featured on NBC’s “Homicide” and Fox’s “Time of Your Life”; she’s also toured with acts like Buddy Guy and Johnny Winter; sat in with String Cheese Incident, Robert Earl Keen and Los Lobos; and jammed with the likes of Bob Dylan, Eddy Shaver, and Ray Benson. Opening Act: Rock-and-soul artist Mitchell Ferguson is a young Dallas singer-songwriter who has appeared in live shows across the country, often sharing a stage with notable artists like Flatland Cavalry, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Margo Price, and David Ramirez. His latest EP, “Making Sound,” was released in 2019. SATURDAY 6/5: Giovannie & The Hired Guns (with Alex Aguilar) Headliner: In 2015, Giovannie Yanez set out to form a “band of brothers” who could stage a high-energy show featuring a sound unlike anything else on the Texas music scene. Today, the Stephenville-grown alt country/Southern rockers Giovannie & The Hired Guns are doing just that, delivering thrilling shows that never fail to keep audiences on their toes. Opening Act: Singer-songwriter Alex Aguilar is at the beginning of his career, but he’s already attracting notice in the Texas country music world, especially since his debut single broke Top 100 charts across the state. His 2021 single, “Honky Tonk Love,” is now available on country stations around the U.S. SUNDAY 6/6: Atlantis Aquarius (with Justin Tipton) Opening Act: How do you define the sound of Justin Tipton & The Troublemakers? Well, that depends on which Justin Tipton song you’re listening to, because Justin and his crew are a “melting pot of rock, country, blues, pop and folk.” Headliner: Get ready to get groovy with Dallas-based Atlantis Aquarius, psychedelic rockers who weave their sound with the threads of familiar musical influences, catchy melodies, and creative lyrics, creating a “tapestry of driving Southern rock and narratives peppered with spiritualism and mysticism.” Lawn chairs encouraged, coolers welcome (but leave the glass at home), paid concessions available. (Pro Tip— Try the J. Gilligan’s world famous Irish Nachos!) For weather updates and other Levitt news, follow the Levitt on social media, call 817.543.4301 or visit the Levitt website.
