WALTHAM, MA — On his first day at Bentley University June 1, the school's ninth president Dr. E. LaBrent Chrite said he's looking forward to full classrooms and a vibrant campus in the fall, as pandemic restrictions lift. "I can't wait to welcome all of our students back to campus this fall, with classrooms, study rooms and dorm rooms full once again," Chrite said. "After a year of careful, safe distancing, we are all looking forward to reengaging with this community with the warmth that so richly defines this community. Until then, I'll be spending my days listening and learning from all of you and getting to know as many members of this extended community as I can as we begin this exciting chapter together. " He is the first Black president in the university's 104-year history, according to the school. Chrite fills the space left by Alison Davis-Blake, who left abruptly in the summer. Bentley Board of Trustees chair Paul Condrin held the position of interim president until Chrite arrived.
