SWAMPSCOTT, MA — A Swampscott resident is one of 14 new members of the Board of Directors at the YMCA of Greater Boston.
Steve Cormier is joining the board whose mission is to serve its communities while "re-imagining its service model to meet the needs of all."
"I am thrilled to join the board of the YMCA of Greater Boston and be a part of an organization whose mission is so critical to the city of Boston," said Cormier, who is also Store Stock Director at Marshalls/TJ Maxx. "The organization's focus on social justice and diversity, childhood education, and food insecurity is never more critical than it is now.
"Their achievements during 2020 and the pandemic have been a true inspiration to me, and I only hope I can help them with continued success in the future."
Cormier has worked at TJX Companies for more than a quarter-century. Prior to his work there, he was a buyer for Filene's and Lord & Taylor.
He is a graduate of American University with a Bachelor of Arts from the School of Government and Publica Administration.
"During these unprecedented times we need passionate, strong leaders and partners to help further our mission of improving the health of mind, body and spirit of the individuals and families in greater Boston," said James Morton, President & CEO of YMCA of Greater Boston. "Now more than ever, we are honored to have these 14 new members commit their valuable time helping us heal our neighbors and re-imagining our services for the betterment of seniors, families and children."
