MELROSE, MA — Bitty & Beau's, the coffee shop that employs people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, is hosting a one-day hiring fair for its first Northeast franchise in Melrose.
The June 11 hiring fair will be at Mount Hood Golf Club at 100 Slayton Rd. from 3-5 or 6-8 p.m.
The store is looking to fill the positions of cashier, drink maker, caller/greeter and part-time shift supervisor. People 18 and older with intellectual and developmental disabilities as well as those interested in part-time management are invited to register.

"We created Bitty & Beau's Coffee to show the world that people with disabilities should be valued, accepted and included members of society, especially in the workplace," said company founder Amy Wright. "It's a place where diversity is not just appreciated, it's celebrated."

Bitty & Beau's currently employs more than 120 people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mostly in its shops down south.
The store, named after two of Amy and Ben Wright's children with Down syndrome, started in 2016 in North Carolina. It now has six locations and is expanding through franchises across the country.
