Rotary Club of Weston and FHV Award Over $100,000 in Scholarships

The Rotary Club of Weston honored 46 local high school students on May 27, 2021, with an online ceremony that awarded over $100,000 in scholarships. The annual event, hosted virtually this year, celebrates young members of the community who demonstrate qualities of character reflecting the Rotary’s motto of “Service Above Self.” The scholarships, which ranged from awards of several hundred dollars to full, two-year rides, went to 46 outstanding seniors from Cypress Bay High and The Sagemont School in Weston, Western High in Davie, and HANDY (Helping Abused Neglected Disadvantaged Youth) in Fort Lauderdale. Recipients were selected from hundreds of applicants who underwent an extensive interview process. As a continuation of its dedication to the local community, Fort Lauderdale-based Freedland Harwin Valori Ryan, PL (FHV), a consumer justice law firm, once again served as the event’s Title Sponsor. Other major sponsors included Hooters Restaurant, Gillman Homes, Mohsin & Frauzia Jaffer Family Foundation and Huntington Learning Center.
