WAUKESHA, WI—Three bus stops are going away in Waukesha. The Waukesha Common Council unanimously approved the proposal to eliminate them on Tuesday during the council meeting.
According to city documents, there were not enough people using the bus routes, there are other bus stops nearby. Also the buses are not compliant with Americans with Disabilities Act. compliant.
The following bus stops are:
Route 5 Burr Oak Blvd. at Chapman Drive (south side of street)
Route 6 and 5/6 West Sunset Drive west of Oakdale Drive (south side of street)Woodfield Park opposite to 128 Cambridge Avenue
Route 7/8 Michigan Avenue at Greenmeadow Drive
The cost to remove the bus stops is minimal. In the long term there is a savings as there are fewer bus stops and the city does not have to incur the cost of adding bus stop pads to make these stops accessible, the documents said.
