Criterium Classic Bike Race Back For 2021: Volunteers Wanted

SHOREWOOD, WI — The Shorewood Criterium Cycling Classic, a day-long series of 10 separate bicycle races on June 25, seeks volunteer race marshals for the upcoming event. Race marshals assist by ensuring racers and fans stay on their side of barricades. Dozens of these marshals are needed around the race's route. Volunteers will receive a t-shirt for their help, but high school students could also receive National Honor Society credit hours, organizers said. Racers can compete at the Criterium Cycling Classic in various races for kids, amateurs and professionals alike, the event's website states. The races start at the corner of N Oakland Avenue and Lake Bluff Blvd and the full course measures 1.15 miles. Fans of the race can attend the Kensington block party at 4500 Oakland Avenue. The block party will offer visitors outdoor vendors, drinks and giveaways during race day, the ToAD website states. The first race category starts at 11:10 a.m. Register to be a volunteer marshal for the Criterium Cycling Classic online. Register to participate in the Criterium Cycling Classic through the ToAD website. The string of races in Shorewood is a part of a larger project hosting similar races across Milwaukee and Wisconsin. The Tour of America's Dairyland (ToAD) was launched in 2009 by Milwaukee cycling enthusiasts but has since expanded to 11 communities across Southeast Wisconsin, ToAD states on their website.
