Learn more about Atsushi's journey with Sashiko and its cultural importance. 1-Hour Visiting Artist Lecture Date: Friday, August 13, 2021 Time: 6:30pm - 7:30pm Description: Born into a Sashiko family in Japan's Gifu prefecture, Atsushi Futatsuya grew up surrounded by Sashiko artisans. He currently resides in central Pennsylvania, where he runs his company Upcycle Stitches LLC. Futatsuya hosts workshops, sells supplies and materials, and shares the Sashiko techniques and skills he has learned throughout his life. His mission is to share what Sashiko is with the world. Join us for this lecture to learn more about Atsushi and his journey with Sashiko. Atsushi will have tools and materials available for purchase to try Sashiko for yourself! Tickets: Free for students in Atsushi's August 14th workshop. A small donation from other attendees would be appreciated! In order to minimize contact with surfaces, please refrain from touching surfaces and objects unless absolutely necessary. You can use the hand sanitizing stations located throughout the building. Cancellations and Refunds: Event cancellations are decided three business days before the start date. If events must be cancelled due to insufficient enrollment, the entire class fee will be refunded by check, to your credit card, or Contemporary Craft account for future workshops. Refund Policy: Student refund requests must be made at least three business days before a class begins. There will be a $25 cancellation fee. No refunds will be given without three-business days notice. Processing of refunds takes approximately three weeks.
