ROCKVILLE, MD — This school year hasn't ended yet, but parents of upcoming kindergarteners can get ready for next year by registering their student for school. Parents of students not currently in Montgomery County schools need to create a new ParentVUE account before registering their child online. Once parents have created an account, they can begin registration. If you already have a child in the district, you will be able to use your ParentVUE account to register online. The district has instructions for all methods of registering in this packet. Parents with students currently in Pre-K, Headstart, or PEP in the district should not use the online registration, the district said in its instructions. They should instead contact their child's school to confirm that they will be going there in the fall. The district also has a school assignment tool for parents who are unsure which building their child will be enrolled in. Enter your address to find where your child will attend school. Students in Montgomery County Public Schools returned to in-person learning for the first time in March. Parents were able to choose if they would send their child back in-person or keep them remote. Acting superintendent Monifa B. McKnight sent a message to staff Wednesday expressing her appreciation for the district. "As that first year came to a close, I relished the opportunity to celebrate my students' accomplishments, recharge and plan to best serve my students in the year ahead," she wrote. "As this year of extraordinary challenges winds down—no matter your role in MCPS, be it in a school or office, please take some time to do the same. Rest, relax and recharge; you've earned it." The district said in April that it was planning for a full five day in-person school schedule in the fall, and will provide updates throughout the summer. Montgomery County Public Schools began in-person high school graduation ceremonies this week.
