Updated at 5:50 p.m. FREDERICKSBURG, VA — Two people were shot in Fredericksburg on Thursday afternoon, and one of the victims has died, according to the Fredericksburg Police Department. The suspect is still at large and is considered armed and dangerous, authorities said. The Fredericksburg Police Department said one person suffered fatal wounds, while a second victim underwent surgery at a nearby hospital on Thursday afternoon. Authorities first received a report of a shooting at 2:48 p.m. on Thursday, June 3. A caller reported a man shot two people and fled on foot toward Hickok Circle, according to a report from the police department. The shooting occurred near Fall Hill Avenue and Wicklow Drive. Police said the suspect is a Black male with a short afro in a white shirt and jeans. Since the suspect could be armed, anyone who sees him should contact 911, authorities said. Photos from the Fredericksburg Free Lance-Star showed crime scene tape blocking off the shopping center near the Cutz N Restore Barber Shop and the Neighborhood Grocery Store Check & Cash. Their photos also showed shattered glass doors at the two businesses. Residents should expect a large police presence in the 3300 block of Fall Hill Avenue as the investigation continues.
