Now in its sixth year, the Baltimore County Public Schools Film Expo happens to be Baltimore County's largest student film competition, receiving more than 130 entries from two dozen schools. In lieu of an in-person screening, this year organizers hosted an online festival featuring winning films and commentary from expo judges. Senior day at Catonsville High ended with senior Nick Eiswert's two-run walk-off home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to give the Comets (3-6) a 9-7 victory over Hereford (3-6), reports Craig Clary. Janet Barber, a research scientist and writer, and her husband, Asamoah Nkwanta, of Catonsville have been studying Benjamin Banneker's journal in which he recorded his observations of cicadas in a 51-year span on his Baltimore County farm that's now a historical park and museum, Stetson Miller reports. Banneker was a free African-American almanac author, surveyor and farmer who in the 1700s helped survey the boundaries of what would become the District of Columbia.
