MONROE, CT — A 45-year-old Bridgeport man has been arrested on a warrant by Monroe police in connection with burglaries in town in January 2019 and March 2020, announced Lt. Stephen Corrone. Carlos Morales-Rodriguez, of Maple Avenue, a former employee of an unnamed home improvement company, was arrested Wednesday at Bridgeport Superior Court where he was appearing on unrelated charges. According to Corrone, Morales-Rodriguez is accused of breaking into a home on Bugg Hill Road in January 2019, and a home on Wildhorse Court in March 2020. In the Bugg Hill Road incident, police said Morales-Rodriguez forced his way into the home through a rear screen door and stole 25 folding chairs — worth a total of $250 — from a porch. Police said that in the Wildhorse Court burglary, Morales-Rodriguez forced way into the home, which was being renovated at the time, through a rear sliding glass door. Once inside, Morales-Rodriguez stole a new Whirlpool refrigerator, several power tools and two new bathroom faucets, all of which were worth more than a combined $2,000. "Detectives discovered both homes had recent improvements completed by the same home improvement company," Corrone said in a release. "Morales-Rodriguez, an employee of the company, was identified as a suspect through witness interview, and the examination of physical evidence collected at both scenes. Based upon the investigation, a warrant for his arrest was obtained at Bridgeport Superior Court." Morales-Rodriguez was charged with the following: Third-degree burglary (2 counts)Third-degree larcenySixth-degree larcenySecond-degree criminal mischiefThird-degree criminal mischief He was held in lieu of bail of $50,000 and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
