MINE HILL, NJ — Police continue to seek help in identifying a man who they say tried to buy a child at Hedden Park. Morris County authorities renewed public efforts to find him Thursday, as the man remains wanted for questioning more than a week after May 26's alleged incident.
The man approached a woman with her 2-year-old son at about 2 p.m. May 26 and made multiple offers to buy her child, according to Morris County Park Police. After several offers, he left with two other men who appeared to be 25-30 years old.
Police believe they left Hedden Park through a gate that leads to Park Heights Avenue in Dover.
Authorities described him as a Hispanic man with a gold tooth, between ages 47-58 and about 5 feet, 7 inches. During the incident, he wore a white t-shirt and a black baseball hat with an "RM" logo, while carrying a plastic bag, authorities said.
A detective with the State Police Forensic Imaging Unit created the composite sketch above.
