Description

Plainfield, Illinois, June 1, 2021: International nonprofit New Life for Haiti invites Plainfield and supporters worldwide to support their “Let There Be Light” campaign happening now through June 31, 2021. Donors can learn more about the need and view pictures at http://weblink.donorperfect.com/Let_There_Be_Light. The “Let There Be Light” campaign will benefit vulnerable families and individuals in the Grand Anse River Valley, a rural area in Haiti that only has one paved road and is primarily accessible by foot. Multiple Haitian government sources report that only 15 percent of rural Haitians have access to electricity. In the area New Life for Haiti works, staff estimate this number to be even lower. New Life for Haiti sees the difficulties produced from lacking access to electricity, so the team focused on equipping 100 families with solar power lanterns that have a USB charger. Donations will go directly to the purchase and distribution of these solar lanterns. “When kids have light, they are able to study at night, and parents can work on crafts or projects that can help them have a little business that can help sustain them economically. These lanterns really are life-giving to families,” reports Marnie Van Wyk, Executive Director. New Life for Haiti invites supporters to follow the solar lantern distribution on New Life for Haiti’s Facebook and Instagram pages, which can be found at www.facebook.com/newlifeforhaiti and www.instagram.com/newlifeforhaiti.
