ELMHURST, IL — In the last few days, Elmhurst police responded to cases involving a person asleep in the drive-thru lane, drug possession, retail theft and a stolen bicycle. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports: Sleepy in drive-thru Police were told about a driver asleep behind the wheel in the drive-thru lane about 4:30 a.m. Wednesday at the around-the-clock McDonald's, 190 E. Butterfield Road. The officer woke the driver, who then drove away. Another officer saw the car and attempted to stop it, but the driver sped away south on York Street. Disturbance A domestic disturbance took place about 8 a.m. Wednesday in the 500 block of Babcock Avenue. Two people accused each other of getting physical during an argument. Because of conflicting accounts and no signs of injury, no arrests were made. Drug possession Foster Farrell, 64, of Glendale Heights, was arrested about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 200 block of North York on a charge of possession of a controlled substance. He was taken to the DuPage County Jail. According to a police report, he was in possession of heroin. Retail theft A man loaded a shopping cart with merchandise and left without paying for it about 11 a.m. Tuesday at Jewel-Osco, 944 S. York St. He entered a black GMC Terrain and headed west on Butterfield Road. He was described as white (possibly East Indian or Hispanic), 45 to 50 years old, having short curly black or brown hair and a thick mustache, and wearing a brown shirt, baggy blue jeans and white shoes. A woman concealed clothing and left without paying for it about 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Kohl's, 303 S. Route 83. She entered the passenger side of a black Ford (possibly a Focus) and headed west. She was described as white, 30 to 35 years old, 5-foot-8, 145 pounds, having brown hair styled in a ponytail, carrying a large brown purse or bag, and wearing a surgical mask, a tank top with black and white stripes, black stretch-style pants and black gym shoes. An officer responded to Get Bazzy, 152 N. York St., for a report of retail theft about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. The officer spoke with the suspect, who gave up the merchandise and admitted to stealing it. The store did not wish to pursue charges. The suspect was given a no-trespass notice. Stolen bicycle An unlocked blue women's hybrid Giant Cypress bicycle was stolen between 4 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Wednesday from the bicycle rack at the train depot at Park and Adell. Fugitive motorcyclist An officer tried to stop the rider of a black sports-style motorcycle about 8 p.m. Tuesday at Route 83 and Lake Street. The driver sped away. Driving violations Yesenia Galeana, 24, of Des Plaines, was arrested about 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Grand and York on charges of no valid driver's license, possession of marijuana in a motor vehicle and expired registration. She was released on bond. Police report information is provided by local police departments. Charges are not evidence of guilt. They are a record of police actions on a given day, and persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
