CHICAGO HEIGHTS, IL — Stem Home Labs, powered by ComEd, is taking a new initiative that is out of this world. This summer, ComEd is launching a Mars Mission from home-bases all over Chicagoland, according to a news release from the City of Chicago Heights. The program is looking for African American and Hispanic students to join. The application deadline is June 30, and the build sessions will take place on July 22, 27 and 29, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. An in person event will take place on July 31 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. ComEd is asking high school students, mentors and influential scientists to join the journey in building a Mars Rover at home. "It's an out of this world STEM experience, and an introductory course to robotic engineering," the release states. According to ComEd, only 100 eligible participants that submit and receive parental approval will be accepted into the Program. To apply, applicants just have to visit ComEdSTEMHomeLab.com.
