Hello! I’m a drummer in Casa Grande who is looking to put a band together where the focus is on great songwriting. Some covers are ok, but the goal is to make quality original music for future live and recording purposes. I’m looking for something that can range from the concise pop sensibilities of the Beatles and old school R&B/Soul to the blues-based, live-jam and psychedelic capabilities of Gary Clark Jr or Black Crowes. Also open to influences ranging from reggae and world music to underground hip-hop to 90’s alternative rock with some energy. That may sound pretty broad but I’ve covered a lot of ground in my years and love most kinds of music ranging from roots and country to indie to heavy rock. The key will be to find good people who are good at what they do but are easy to work with and want to allow each other space to stretch without going too far off the path. In other words, a collaboration which keeps each other in check but with mutual respect and a sense of adventure. No ego trips please. Not interested in pigeon-holing too heavily into one thing or chasing a formula. Just sincere, passionate music with energy, diversity and dynamics. Imagination is a huge factor. If you’re a guitar player, bassist, keyboard player, and/or utility musician who is just as interested in hearing what other players bring to the overall mix as they are in their own craft, this could be a fun, creative project. I do have a studio space in my home but am happy to split travel time between members who can also accommodate to make the driving part fair if you’re in the Phoenix and/or surrounding areas. So far, I’ve got a singer on board who brings a smoky, soulful energy to her vocal style and can bring funk and reggae into the mix. We’re open to other players who sing and and like the idea of balanced male-female energy. We’re in our youthful forties but not concerned with age if you’re excited to contribute and are good with people and won’t bring drama into the circle. Please contact Don if interested.
