METRO DETROIT — Summer is here, and with that so is patio season for many Michiganders. But this summer comes with an added appreciation for being with friends and family at some of our favorite restaurants, enjoying company while sitting on patios with good food. Michigan's coronavirus restrictions recently allowed for more people to go out to eat with others. Interested in grabbing a drink with friends in Metro Detroit? Maybe some food, while also getting some Vitamin D? If so, here is a roundup of some of Metro Detroit's patios. Pinky's Rooftop in Royal Oak Pinky's Rooftop in Royal Oak is open for dine-in and carryout patrons Wednesday through Saturday. It offers 27 all-season seats, with 44 outdoor patio spots. Royal Oak's "Most Instagrammable Bar" recently redid all its patio seating, while changing uo its full food menu. Mootz Pizzeria + Bar in Detroit Mootz Pizzeria + Bar has specialty pizzas and pasta and has quickly become a staple in the Detroit restaurant scene, boasting as the city's only authentic New York pizza shop. But the bar also added an awning over its patio, with 16 seats available to people wanting a slice of pizza and a cocktail outdoors. Joe Muer Seafood in Detroit Located in the heart of Detroit, Joe Muer Seafood was named best seafood in the city by Hour Detroit readers in 2020 for the eighth consecutive year. The restaurant offers classic fresh fish and creative seafood specialties in addition to delicious cocktails and offers 36 seats available for outdoor dining. La Strada Italian Kitchen & Bar in Birmingham La Strada Italian Kitchen & Bar is open for dining and carryout with 40 patio seats available, as well. In fact, the restaurant expanded its patio seating by 200 percent last summer to accommodate interest in more outdoor dining. La Strada is a European-style bistro, offers pizza and pasta and also presents fine dining. Jim Brady's in Ann Arbor and Royal Oak Jim Brady's Ann Arbor just reopened, while the Royal Oak location has been remodeled, with a brand-new menu. Jim Brady's pays homage to the 1954 legendary original location on 7 Mile Rd. & Greenfield. Both restaurants have an "Old School Cool" feel mixed with modern touches. The Royal Oak location offers 24 patio seats, while the Ann Arbor spot has about 60 seats.
