Howdy, folks! Welcome to the Duluth Daily Digest, where you can find all you need to know about happenings and news from around town! In today's issue, you will read about the kindness our local police show to our community. But first, the weather: Today is going to be partly cloudy with a high of 85 and a low of 63. It will be very humid today with a 20% chance of precipitation. Now, for a bit about the news: 1) A fire at Courtland Portico Apartments has displaced 45 people and families. All tenants were able to evacuate safely. (Fox5) 2) Duluth has just approved a self-storage development at a time when other cities are restricting those projects. Self-storage was previously allowed in Duluth, with restrictions and a special-use permit. This development will contain many more opportunities for storage. (Inside Self-Storage) 3) Interested in adding a furry friend to your family? Planned Pethood is looking for forever homes for pets. (Patch) 4) A Duluth police officer lends his best hand to a local homeless man by giving him free toothpaste and a new toothbrush. The kind moment was caught on another police officer's bod camera. (Fox News) 5) Another police officer is now mentoring a 6-year-old who wants to be a police officer when he grows up. If there's one thing we can learn from Duluth police, it's to pass the kindness forward! (11 Alive) Tonight's events: 1) As always, Parson's Alley will be hosting Friday in Duluth tonight. Come on out for some grub and drinks while hanging out on the green! 2) North Atlanta Home Show Infinite Energy Center (All Weekend) 3) The Lisa Nicole Summer Collection hosts a Sip and Shop (7 p.m.) You're all caught up for Friday! Catch you again tomorrow. Peace and Love, Lyndsay Oxley My name is Lyndsay Oxley, and I have lived in the District at Duluth for about three years now. If you recognize my name and face, it is probably because you've seen me around Parson's Alley at Good Word Brewing. I am there every weekend serving tables, while during the week I am an ESOL teacher at Radloff Middle School. I love Duluth's everything from the diversity, great food and drinks, and the warming culture. I hope that I can continue to keep you reading every day, and if you enjoy reading it, please tell your friends!
