Description
We hatched 10 coturnix quail, and so far at least five of them are roosters. Quail roosters don't get along together, and the hens only like one of them. We need to rehome the remaining four roosters. Colors: brown pattern, dark brown with a white chin (this one has a very musical crow), dark with a wry neck (it was injured as a chick, but is healthy), and cinnamon with white.
Coturnix quail are small and the roosters crow quietly enough to be allowed within city limits, but you have to keep them in an enclosed coop because they can easily fly away. You can only keep one rooster per coop, but they don't need a lot of room to be happy. They can live indoors or out (with protection from predators), they eat cheap poultry feed, and are hardy in heat or cold. Obviously the roosters don't lay eggs, but they chirp and make their trilling crow, and are very pretty. They don't live as long as chickens or most pet birds, usually between 3-6 years, so it's not as much of a commitment.
