Description
Play just-like-the record versions of the same songs you're already tired of? Hey - after buying gas and strings you can take home $75 for a few hours hauling gear to/fro the local dive !! Don't forget the 3-free-beers perk!
If the answer's NO... how about songs you actually enjoy, certainly including originals?!
Do it well, do it "your way" (kinda like the burger but with the full support of trusted friends).
Then, help others achieve their vision.
Downside: Doesn't pay well.
Upside: NEEDS to be a lot more fun.
How? Start with three songs from several folk, key/changes/mode all decided and learned in advance, then gather to play with and off each other, in the vision of the picker. Enjoy, maybe do some recording, then another presents his/her tune and the others help achieve that vision...
My list for June 2021 is:
Fool on the Hill... the Beatles tune. Comfort when ignored, chord changes that wrench in a lovely way. In "A", slightly more uptempo and with a kinda march feel. I'll play Bass or Guitar
Moonlight Drive... Door's tune. Let's just get out tonight love, it's our time to fly. Multiple key (and mood) changes make it just fun to play. I'll play Bass or Guitar
Love Has Come To Town … Talking Heads. I do this like the record, showing I’m not always outside the box. I'll play Bass.
You get the drift. What three songs do you vision?
