They are know as “50c” poster aka 50 cent payments per post. Generally if one is paid to do something then more than likely it’s done for the money and not it’s inherent value. In other words some of this leftist radical talk isn’t even by authentic people but just done to profit. One could easily make 50 posts a day even in an hour or two using CL, FB and Twitter. That’s $25 dollars an hour if one did it 300 days a year 2 hours a day that’s $15000 dollars. Not shabby for an average Wang or Zhang: “ The average annual household income in China, converted to dollars, was $10,220, compared with $84,300 in the United States (the median US income is $47,300.)” From a Harvard study: “ According to numerous speculations by scholars, activists, journalists, officials in other governments, and participants in social media, the Chinese regime also conducts “astroturfing,” or what we might call “reverse censorship,” surreptitiously posting large numbers of fabricated social media comments, as if they were the genuine opinions of ordinary Chinese people. The people hired for this purpose are known formally as “In- ternet commentators”” PS While certainly the meme is truthful and China does use military to influence social media another Harvard study found %60 of posts were by normal government employees “freelancing” on their off time to earn more money (clerks, minor officials what have you).
