Car/ride 7/2-9?

Hello! I’m thinking of traveling to Maui 7/2-9. Car rentals are about $500 a day, which is just not affordable. I thought before giving up on the trip, I’d see how likely it is that I could rent a personal car, or pay someone for rides. Thanks!
