Garage-pop band seeks keyboards

New York City NY

Description

Established NYC rock band, getting a post-pandemic overhaul, needs some sweet electric organ/synth-type lines! Let’s talk about it This band has been around since 2018, is two EPs in, is ready to start getting songs together for EP 3, is on a supportive local/regional garage-punk label, and has played in most of the clubs/spaces where a local NYC band should be playing. We’ve done garage rock, powerpop, punk, psych, jangle-pop. Influences/reference points include: Big Star, The Smiths, Costello/Attractions, X, a lot of British Invasion stuff (less Beatles/Stones, more Zombies/Kinks tbh), a lot of ‘60s Brill Building and girl group stuff, etc., etc. What we need from you: A good ear for melody and the ability to get a handle on a new song pretty quickly. Sometimes you’d need to hold down the chords, sometimes provide countermelody and some interplay w the lead guitar bits. Harmony vox a big plus. A good musical imagination is WAY more important than the ability to shred. Looking to spend the summer getting the band up to speed, easing into it rather than jumping into it. Got a practice space at Stanhope (Bushwick). Drop a line if this sounds cool to you.
