The Varsity is excited to welcome blues-based power trio The Deciders to help us celebrate our 81st birthday on Saturday, June 26. Three of Carbondale’s most talented musicians – Robert Russell (guitar and vocals), Chris DiBiase (bass and vocals), and Jimmy Beers (drums) – will be making their first Varsity appearance. Seeing and hearing them perform in a concert setting is like nothing you’ve seen or heard anywhere else. Their music incorporates a wide range of musical influences that includes jazz/fusion, funk, and hard driving rock n’roll. Their emphasis is original material and improvisation, making them one of the most interesting bands on the local music scene. DiBiase and Beers are a powerful, dynamic rhythm section and Russell’s guitar work ranges from Clapton and Beck like guitar licks to intricate slide guitar melodies. The Varsity is pleased to have The Deciders as a part of their reopening/ anniversary celebration. The show begins at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 26. Tickets are $10. They are available in advance only at Eventbrite. Tickets are not available in advance at the venue but will be available on the night of the show, when doors and the Varsity Bar open at 6:30.
