We need someone with an open schedule, high energy level, and willingness to help perform the variety of tasks required at a canine care facility. Tasks may include supervision of daycare groups, cleaning, reception, facility chores, and some on-call shifts. While we do get to play with dogs sometimes (which is really fun!) we do a lot of work behind the scenes to keep the play groups running smoothly and there are many non-dog related tasks that need to be done. Strong Candidates will have an open schedule, ability to work weekends and holidays, and have reliable transportation. Working at SkyHi is HARD PHYSICAL WORK. Our handlers routinely clock 6-10 miles per shift on their feet moving around with little ability to sit down or take a break. If you like action, being outside, and are PASSIONATE about quality animal care this is the job for you. Applicants must be 18 years or older. Willingness to get pulled around and jumped on by boisterous and lively young dogs a must. If you are patient, kind, and enjoy learning and growing with a hard-working team you'll be a welcome applicant! Knowledge of dog behavior is encouraged, but training is also provided to strong applicants. We are a positive and gentle handling facility. Physical requirements: The ability to: lift 50 pounds regularly respond quickly to sounds move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces see and respond quickly to escalated situations work in extreme weather bend, stoop, kneel, twist routinely Mental requirements: Ability to: treat animals with dignity and respect read and interpret canine body language and verbal signals work and sustain attention with distractions and/or interruptions. interact appropriately with a variety of individuals including co workers and customers/clients. work as an integral part of a team. maintain regular attendance and be punctual. understand, remember and follow verbal and written instructions. complete assigned tasks without direct supervision. exercise independent judgment and make decisions within scope of position.
