PORT WASHINGTON, NY — June 1 marks the beginning of LGBTQ Pride Month. And this year, the Port Washington Public Library is celebrating with a host of programs and events. These discussions will cover everything from LGBTQ representation in popular culture to the fight for justice and inclusion during the Stonewall Riots of 1969. Some events will be held over Zoom. Below are some highlights: June 2 Sandwiched In with Ron Brown - Christopher Street: A Gay City Within a City Description: A pre-recorded discussion on the LGBTQ+ community in NYC and the religious and political oppression that members faced before the Stonewall Riots on June 28, 1969.
