UPDATE 3 p.m. — A fatal shooting in Spring Valley on Memorial Day took place at 9:50 p.m., police said Tuesday afternoon.
After an officer on patrol on Crispus Attucks Road heard multiple gunshots, police who converged on the scene found a man in the roadway on Rose Avenue. He was pronounced dead.
The man, whom police identified only as an 18-year-old former Spring Valley resident, had been shot several times.

SPRING VALLEY, NY — A fatal shooting Monday brought first responders from several police departments and other Rockland County agencies to Rose Avenue and Fred Hecht Drive.
Several people were shot and one was killed, according to social media.
The intersections including Bethune Boulevard, Fred Hecht Drive, Rose Avenue, and parts of Ewing Avenue were closed for hours as police responded.
At the scene, Rockland County District Attorney Thomas Walsh gave a video interview to Rockland Buff on Facebook.
"It's a sad event in Spring Valley, another tragic loss of life," Walsh said. "The matter is under investigation, the Spring Valley Police Department is on the scene, doing a very good job, supported by law enforcement agencies from all of Rockland County."
Tuesday morning, Spring Valley police were giving out no details at all.
"It is under investigation," Spring Valley police told Patch Tuesday. "That's all we have right now."
At the scene with Spring Valley police were officers from Orangetown, Clarkstown, Ramapo, New York State Police and the Rockland County Sheriff's Office, Rockland Buff reported.
They were part of a hunt for the shooter, News12 reported.
