BROOKLINE, MA — As of last week, some 57 percent of Brookline residents, or 36,744 people, had received at least one dose of the vaccine, according to state data. But Department of Public Health and Health Commissioner Dr. Swannie Jett is hoping to help those numbers go up, especially for anyone older than 65. So, the health department is hosting a free vaccination clinic for those older than 65. "This is a great opportunity for those most at-risk of serious complications from COVID-19 to get vaccinated and dramatically reduce not only their likelihood of getting seriously ill, but their likelihood of getting sick at all," Jett said in a statement. "Vaccination is the single best tool we have to put an end to the pandemic and reach community immunity, and I encourage all who are eligible for this clinic to sign up." People 65 and older are among the highest percentage in town vaccinated, at nearly 70 percent. But Jett hopes to reach more. So his department is hosting a free vaccine clinic from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. June 12 for residents older than 65 at 11 Pierce St. Those who attend may choose between the Moderna two-shot vaccine or the Johnson & Johnson one-shot vaccine.
