PUYALLUP, WA — Interesting in getting more involved in your community? Well, Puyallup has a lot of opportunities for volunteers who want to step up and help out.
Currently, the city is seeking applicants to serve on its Library Board, Parks & Recreation Board, Council Salary Commission and the Lodging Tax Advisory Committee.
The Library Board meets at 6:15 p.m. the third Monday of every month. They develop policies which guide local libraries and serve as library advocates within their community.
The Parks & Rec board meets at 6 p.m. the second Monday of every other month. The seven member board reviews the recreational needs of Puyallup residents and makes recommendations to the city on how to beautify and manage city parks the cemetery and local recreational facilities.
The Council Salary Commission meets three times a year. Members serve four-year terms and are charged with setting the salaries of the mayor, deputy mayor and city councilmembers.
To apply for any of those three boards, applicants only need to live within Puyallup city limits and submit an application to the City Clerk's Office at [email protected]. The deadline for all three positions is 5:00 p.m. on June 18. Interested applicants can also contact the City Clerk's Office at 253-841-5480 for more information.
Lodging Tax Advisory Committee applicants must represent businesses or organizations that impose Puyallup's lodging tax or receive funding from that tax's revenues. The advisory committee reviews applications for lodging tax funds and recommends those candidates to city council, who make the final decision.
