Description

Looking for a volunteer opportunity for your high school rising sophomore or junior? Your child can apply for Arlington Camp Access Service Corps (ACASC). ACASC trains high school students to be interns and to assist working parents in completing summer camp applications. A group training will run the week of July 19th-23rd from 5:30pm to 8:30pm on Zoom and occasional group meetings will occur throughout the following school year. During the training, students will learn skills in confidentiality, diversity, equity, and inclusion, and more that will be essential for any post-high school plans. Specifically, the diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) training will be interactive and centered on providing the students with a firm base on DEI themes such as communication, historical exclusion, and culture that will be expanded on in the coming year. After the training, students will be equipped to support working parents from low and lower income backgrounds in researching summer camps for their children and filling out applications for those camps. Any confidential information relevant to applications that regard the parents and children will be handled directly by ACASC’s founder Kim Holt. Besides helping parents with applications, participants will have the option to be matched with a local internship that will be personalized to the student’s particular interests. Furthermore, ACASC can connect participants to professional resume and writing support, which will be beneficial for any student applying to college and/or to a work opportunity.  By being a part of ACASC, students will be prepared for post-high school endeavors, whether they be college and/or work, through interactive and comprehensive group trainings, experience in service by aiding parents with summer camp applications and with their personalized internships, and professional support they can gain in searching for and applying to college and work opportunities. Contact Kim Holt at [email protected] for more information on how to apply! If the week of July does not work for you to attend the training, let us know!
