ROCKVILLE, MD — Live music returns to Rockville in a new form this year: Live at RedGate. The music festival will run from June 23 to 26, and tickets go on sale this week.
Tickets are free, but have to be reserved in advance, and are limited to six per household.
"Live at RedGate was developed out of a desire to provide the community with a fun, safe way to gather, keeping health guidelines in mind," said Colleen McQuitty, Rockville's special events manager, in an email to Patch. "The City of Rockville is excited to host our first in-person event since the pandemic started."
Music genres range from opera to '90s tribute, and include names such as Kelly Bell Band (to sing the blues) and Groovy Nate (who performs for kids). Beyond live music, there will be yoga and food trucks, which will be announced in two weeks.
"The City of Rockville wanted to offer an alternative to our annual Hometown Holidays Music Fest," said McQuitty. "Hometown Holidays takes a lot of planning and, when we began the planning process, a festival of its usual size and scope couldn't happen based on COVID-19 health guidelines."
Residents will be listening from the field, so chairs and blankets are encouraged. Everyone at the event is expected to follow CDC masking guidelines.
