GAITHERSBURG, MD — If you were building a park, would you put in a seesaw or a swing set? A horseshoe pitch or a cricket pitch? A walking path or a pavilion? Gaithersburg is building a park, and city leaders want your answers to those questions. It's running a survey for the development of Crown Farm Park from June 1 to 22, asking about preferences for green spaces, sports uses, playgrounds, community uses and green practices. The park is at the corner of Decoverly Drive and Steinbeck Avenue — of the 2.99 acres, 1.5 will be usable park space. "Creating a park design that incorporates open space for recreation and small community gatherings and maximizing the useable space requires careful thought and balance," the city wrote at the beginning of the survey. "The City welcomes the community's input in this process." The park is part of the 175 acre land that was annexed to the city in 2006, the survey says. The 19th century Corn Crib Barn — a remnant of the England Crown farm that will preserved later this year — is part of that land but is not part of the park, the city said.
