Description

The Driller/Grinder is responsible for operating a light industrial drill press and bench top belt grinder. Aluminum castings are drilled using a drill jig with flood coolant passing through and castings with sharp edges or residual gating are smoothed on the grinder. All necessary personal protective equipment is supplied such as gloves, an apron, ear protection, and safety glasses. Work stations are set up in a specified way for ease of use and accuracy of work. The position requires the employee to be able to stand in one place for long periods and perform repetitive tasks. Employee must also be able to lift plastic totes of aluminum castings that can weigh up to 50 pounds from the floor to the bench top. Occasionally, a drill bit will break inside the drill jig or a grinding belt will wear or break, requiring the use of common hand tools to remedy. The worker must have some mechanical aptitude to fix problems in a timely manner and return the work station to normal operation. Duties and Responsibilities - Drill and grind parts correctly in a warehouse work environment. - Meet time standards with accuracy and efficiency. - Meet quality control standards. - General troubleshooting to fix drill/jig or belt grinder problems. - Follow safety standards and proper use of personal protective equipment. Skills and Qualifications - Lift up to 50 pounds. - Stand on feet all shift. - Perform repetitive tasks. - Hand dexterity and use of hand tools. - Attention to detail to meet quality standards. - Requires some mechanical aptitude to fix problems and maintain operations. - Clearly read, write and comprehend English. - Produce quality work at a fast pace. Education - High School diploma or GED
