ARLINGTON, VA — Motorists will need to find a different way to get around the Crystal City and National Landing area Saturday, as many roads will be closed due to the Armed Forces Cycling Classic bicycle races, according to a police release.
Arlington County Police will be closing the following streets from 2 a.m.-5 p.m., to accommodate the cycling event:
Crystal Drive, from S. 15th Street through S. 23rd StreetWilson Boulevard, from N. Kent Street to the Route 110 rampRoute 110, from Rosslyn to Crystal CityS. Clark Street, from S. 20th Street to S. 23rd StreetS. 20th Street, from Crystal Drive to S. Clark StreetS. 18th Street, from Crystal Drive to S. Bell StreetS. 23rd Street from Crystal Drive to S. Clark StreetCrystal Drive (West side), from S. 23rd Street to the Central Center Parking GarageS. 12th Street and Long Bridge Drive Other streets may be closed as well, depending on whether police deem it necessary.
Police are encouraging spectators and those competing in the races to use Metro or other for-hire services to access the area. Both Blue and Yellow line trains service the Crystal City Metro station, which is located at 18th and Clark Street and is closest to the racecourse.
Temporary "No Parking" signs will be posted to indicated places where street parking is restricted during Saturday's event. Anyone whose care is towed should contact the Emergency Communications Center at 703-558-2222.
Similar street closings and parking restrictions will be in place on Sunday in the Clarendon area for the Clarendon Cup Classic bicycle race.
