Description

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration began moving MD 32 (Patuxent Freeway) traffic to the newly constructed southbound travel lanes Tuesday. Starting at 9 p.m. Wednesday, motorists can expect a flagging operation and temporary lane closures on MD 32 between MD 144 (Frederick Road) and Rosemary Lane. Work is expected to be complete by 5 a.m. Thursday. Once complete, traffic in both directions of this section of MD 32 will travel in the southbound lanes while crews work on the northbound lanes. This work is part of the $127 million MD 32 Phase II widening project that is expected to complete in 2022. The project will construct an additional travel lane in both directions of MD 32 between Linden Church Road and the I-70 ramps. During this week's overnight work, crews will install guardrail, relocate concrete barriers and roadway markers to prepare the new travel lanes for motorists.
