Questlove To Perform At Empire Garage In Austin

AUSTIN, TX — He is the popular drummer and joint frontman on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, and now he's making his way to Austin. Questlove will make a special appearance Saturday, June 12 at Empire Garage, 606 E. 7th Street, in Austin. This will be the musician's first public appearance and performance since the beginning of the pandemic. Patrons can reserve general admission tickets or a private table / designated space in advance through a special VIP ticket starting Tuesday at EmpireATX.com. Options include general admission tickets or reserved tables for groups of up to eight starting at $24 per person. Questlove plans to present a very special live edition of GO DJ, his streaming show on Twitch, hosted by BlackStreamLive at the event, officials said Tuesday. The event will also take place in-person in front of a limited capacity number of fans. Simultaneously, a global audience of GO DJ streamers that regularly reaches over 450,000 unique viewers globally will join the event. "I was personally very gratified to hear Questlove wanted to make his return to the stage here with us at Empire to celebrate the return of live music in the city," said managing partner Stephen Sternschein. Sternschein said the event will help nonprofit Red River Cultural District's Banding Together ATX emergency relief program, which provides food aid for Austin's music industry workers who were greatly affected by the pandemic's shutdown and resulting unemployment.
