ELMHURST, IL — In the last few days, Elmhurst police have handled cases involving gym thefts, an attack by a family dog, a restaurant disturbance, a library incident, a jewelry theft, harassing messages and damage. Here is information from the latest Elmhurst police reports: Thefts at gym The police responded Friday night to two thefts of money from secured lockers at LA Fitness, 620 N. York St. In one of the cases, the victim described the suspect as a black man, 5-foot-7, having a thin build and wearing a black hat, a skintight T-shirt and pants. In that case, the combination lock was missing from the locker. Bitten by family dog A resident in the 200 block of South Villa Avenue was bitten by the family dog about 7 p.m. Monday. The victim suffered severe cuts to her face and ear. Medics took the victim to Elmhurst Hospital for treatment. The case was referred to DuPage County Animal Control. Restaurant disturbance Three juveniles caused a disruption about 4:30 p.m. Monday at Starbucks, 164 N. York St. They refused to leave. An officer spoke with the juveniles, who were given a no-trespass notice and released to their parents. Jewelry stolen from house Jewelry was stolen from a house between May 9 and May 27 in the 200 block of East South Street. The case is pending an investigation. Library incident A disturbance happened about 1:30 p.m. Friday at Elmhurst Public Library, 125 S. Prospect Ave. An officer met with a suspect who was irate and uncooperative. The suspect was issued a no-trespass order and released. Harassing messages A resident in the 200 block of South Villa Avenue received harassing text messages from a suspect Sunday. The suspect agreed to cease further communications with the victim. A resident in the 300 block of West Elm Park Avenue received several threatening text messages from a suspect Monday morning. An officer tried to contact the suspect, but was unsuccessful. Fugitive driver An officer tried to stop a driver for speeding about 6:30 p.m. Monday near North and Interstate 290. The driver sped away, last seen traveling east on Clinton Avenue. Damage A backyard fence was damaged about 10:30 p.m. Thursday in the 400 block of South Cottage Hill Avenue. An investigation is pending. Egged Someone threw eggs at the rear window of a car at 9 a.m. Saturday in the 100 block of North York Street. Theft of keys A man showed up at St. John the Baptist Chapel, 501 E. Lake St., pulled up to the gas pumps and demanded they be turned on about 2:30 p.m. Monday. He was refused. After a brief exchange, the suspect left the maintenance garage. A person in the garage noticed the keys to a work van had been taken. The suspect was last seen heading west on Lake Street in a teal pickup truck. The man was described as black, having a thin build, and wearing black clothing with a hoodie covering his face. An investigation is pending. Shoplifting A person stole merchandise Saturday at Jewel-Osco, 153 E. Schiller St. Someone confronted the suspect and recovered the stolen items. The suspect left in a newer model white pickup truck. The case is pending an investigation. Underage drinking Police responded to a noise complaint about 11 p.m. Thursday in the 500 block of South Hawthorne Avenue. Officers found that people under 21 had consumed alcohol. They were referred to the Peer Jury Program.
