BALDWIN, NY — A dirt bike and SUV crashed on Grand Avenue in Baldwin. It happened at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, police said. The 24-year-old male driver of the dirt bike was seriously injured, detectives said. He was taken to a nearby hospital with severe trauma. The driver of the 2011 Toyota minivan, the only person in the vehicle, was not hurt, according to police. Witnesses said the biker was riding at a high rate of speed and was doing a "wheelie" when he collided with the other vehicle, detectives said. Police are investigating the crash.
