Two-Way Radio Installation Technician Full Job Description As a Radio Installation Technician, you will be responsible for installing, removing and troubleshooting mobile communication equipment, two-way radios, mobile data terminals, emergency lighting, vehicle camera equipment, security screens, vehicle consoles, and vehicle tracking devices. RESPONSIBILITIES Disassembling and reassembling trim, seats, lights, headliners, carpet in motor vehicles, heavy equipment, and/or any other type of mobile equipment to properly route wiring and install equipment. Install and troubleshoot antenna systems, route antenna, data, and power cabling, and apply various electrical connectors. Install low voltage wiring, networking cable, and antenna systems in buildings. Review job requirements and determine optimal equipment placement and installation limitations. Service and maintain service vehicles and garage equipment relating to the Radio Installation Technician’s work. Keep work area clean and help with general building maintenance and upkeep. QUALIFICATIONS Applicants must have GED or high school diploma and pass a drug screenings and background checks. As part of the hiring process a Motor Vehicle Record check will be conducted. Ability to use basic tools and test equipment, including hand tools, battery power tools, digital multi-meters, watt-meters, and soldering equipment. Must physically be able to maneuver into and out of heavy equipment and work on ladders and other elevated locations. Understanding of basic wiring diagrams and basic DC circuit theory is required. Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook is desired. Must be able to work under pressure and independently and meet deadlines for delivering quality solutions on time. Local travel is required, overnight travel is occasional.
