Description

I’m a fiber artist who dyes many types of silk in several different techniques and I am looking for at least one sewing assistant, possibly two for contract/ piece sewing work. The images in the post are examples of my work. I sell to galleries, stores, catalogs and also do select fine art fairs here in Texas as well as across the US. I do not have a website currently, but that is something I’m going to be focusing on in the next few months once I get some new products created. I have many different styles (scarves, ponchos, kimonos, vests, jackets, etc) currently and am looking to expand my items over the next few months to include different types of pieced scarves, clothing, jackets and handbags. I have TONS of silk scraps that I’m wanting to turn into new items, just do not have the time to do everything so its time for me to finally get some help. I’m looking for someone(maybe more) who is mature and loves sewing, piecing and creating, with an impeccable attention to detail and a great eye for color and putting different fabrics together to create a pleasing combination, while also executing meticulous construction techniques. If you are proficient in quilting and piecing and/or has apparel construction sewing experience and possibly handbag construction, experience this might be a great fit! Here are some qualities I would love my assistants to have: Mature, loves sewing and piecing and creating Has apparel construction sewing experience, handbag construction experience a plus Impeccable attention to detail Ready to wear retail, high end clothing quality sewing Ability to work from your own home, in your own sewing room if pet/smoke free or have a sewing room that pets do not go into(I’m allergic) Takes extreme pride in their work Meticulous, almost perfectionist in nature, but has the ability to do production work efficiently in a timely manner Excellent work ethic Must have sewing machine and/or serger and be proficient in using both, but I do have extra machines if needed. Please reply with “Silk” in the subject line, so I know you are not a bot, or scammer. Please send details of your sewing experience, images of your work and references.
