Chamber Folk group looking for Double Bassist

Meets

Portland OR

Description

Hey there, I'm Noah. I front a chamber folk group here in Portland (https://www.noahkite.com/). I'm looking for, at least, a part time replacement, and at most, a full time replacement for my current double bassist. Here are some examples of the current sound: https://soundcloud.com/noahkite/sets/wavs/s-BTB6UKLMUtH Our current line up is oboe/english horn, jazz percussion, cello, upright bass, and guitar and voice. We play out regularly (when not pandemic'd), have ambitions to tour again as things finally settle down, and just finished a fantastic album. It is both fortunate and unfortunate that our double bassist is the principal bassist for the Oregon symphony; he is both one of the greatest players in town, but also spread thin due to his skill level, family needs, etc. Every summer he goes to Chicago for several months to play in the Grant Park symphony, and, as you might imagine, that hampers my/our ambitions. I'm looking for someone to partially fill his shoes. He excels at everything, but the primary areas in which I need a double bassist to be strong are: -Creative writing - here, at Noah Kite, we all write. I write the core song in guitar and voice, and then we all, with a blend of correspondence and in person tinkering, flesh it out into something much greater. We all have input on what we each write, and we try to foster a comfortable space in which to experiment. You need to be inspired by the music, and willing and able to contribute what you feel. -Practice - know the tunes. -Punctuality - be there to play the tunes. If this feels like it might be a good fit for you, please reach out with examples of your playing and your availability. Cheers!
