Volm Companies is currently hiring for the following positions: Print Press Operator, Knitting Operator, Lamination Operator, Applicator Operator, Slitting Operator, and Wicketer Operator. Overall job requirements of each position are listed below. During the interview process, we will discuss all openings and explain the differences in the departments. Duties and Responsibilities-FOR ALL POSITIONS Perform set-up correctly and efficiently on machines Follow and understand production schedules and written instructions Properly print and label all produced material Inspect and package to order and package correctly Perform all quality measures Record results of quality measures Operate machines efficiently Maintain minimum average production rates Perform machine maintenance duties (housekeeping, re-stocking, etc) Participate in lean initiatives Maintain machine, safety, production, and quality Recognize machine defects and contact maintenance Qualifications-FOR ALL POSITIONS High School Diploma or Equivalency Diploma Basic mathematical calculation skills Ability to read and follow oral and written instructions Demonstrated mechanical aptitude Basic computer knowledge Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Strong Attention to Detail Demonstrated mechanical aptitude Physical Requirements-FOR ALL POSITIONS Standing and walking 90% of the shift Can lift up to 60 lbs Be able to lower rolls of plastic film to the floor and pick them up with a power lift (150 to 225 lbs) Be able to handle, grasp, and perform repetitive motions Have eye/hand/foot coordination Must be able to work in temperatures ranging from 60 degrees to 90+ depending on the season and the department Job Specific Requirements Listed Below Laminating Operator-Machine operator to maintain and run the laminating machines according to production and quality specifications. Show knowledge and demonstration of: o film welding o roll handling techniques o tape tying o weft tape loading and change overs • o tear test o label adhesion test o tensile test o blade bar change o set up and change over o printed label inspection familiarity • Understand and follow published schedules and written instructions • Correctly run one or more UT lamination machines, be able to push, pull, squat, bend or reach 80% of the workday Print Press Operator-Machine operator to maintain and run the print press machine according to production and quality specifications. Perform set-up of print press including printing plates, color matching, registration, and label slitting • Recognize, remove, and report poor quality labels • Must learn and utilize X-Rite Color Analysis software, and maintain color database • Perform basic machine maintenance including: - maintain clean work area - general machine cleaning - general machine greasing and other duties • General label printing and associated duties • Perform print press machine operation and general maintenance • Learn and maintain Volm Companies Powered Industrial Truck certification to operate lift equipment including pallet jack, propane lift truck and battery lift truck, be able to push, pull, squat, bend or reach 10% of the workday Knitting Operator-Machine operator to maintain and run the knitting machines according to production and quality specifications. Be able to do machine set up’s and welds • Locate and fix broken threads • Recognize and be able to tighten loose film or floppy film • Clean and replace rolls of filament or monofilament thread, adjust tension as necessary • Replace empty draw cord spools • Know which machines and mesh types need to be oiled • Know how to check waste from slitters, adjust tension and empty waste wheels • Know difference between warp and weft • Know what needles and guides are • Know how to correctly unload the doff unit, roll position, reset meter, position weight bar, reload doff bar and verify production counts • Verify changeovers, check set on machine is correct and has passes quality inspection, ability to thread needles, ability to operate pallet jack or lift truck and battery controlled lifts, be able to push, pull, squat, bend or reach 80% of the workday Wicketer Operator-Machine operator to maintain and run the wicketing machines according to production and quality specifications. Duties and Responsibilities • Implement quick change technique • Recognize and remove poor print label quality • Recognize and remove poor mesh quality • Film gauge measurements • Drop testing procedure • Shake test procedure • Seal quality procedure • Maintain Microsoft Excel spreadsheets • Accurately flag all applicator manufacturing defects for converting equipment Coordinate utilization of oldest materials, be able to push, pull, squat, bend or reach 10% of the workday Applicator Operator-Machine operator to maintain and run the Applicator/Roll-to-Roll machines according to production and quality specifications. Duties and Responsibilities • Perform set-up correctly and efficiently on all Applicators • Accurately flag all applicator manufacturing defects for Converting department equipment. Be able to push, pull, squat, bend or reach 80% of the workday Slitting Operator-Machine operator to maintain and run the Slitting machines according to production and quality specifications.
