Need help mending your garments? Register for an in-person, socially-distanced mending consultation for some inspiration, tips, and tools!
As part of our Community Engagement grant, Ragfinery is able to offer free-of-cost, in-person mending consultations to community members. *Please note that due to COVID you must wear a mask at all times, and only one person is admitted to our workshop room per time slot.* You will also be required to fill out a symptom-check form upon arrival.
Each consultation is one hour long, during which you will have access to our sewing machines and basic sewing tools to repair your garment. There will be a staff member or volunteer available to assist you. Though we generally like to offer hands-on help, our volunteers and staff will need to keep as much physical distance as is reasonably possible. If you can, please arrive with materials (fabric patches, thread, yarn, etc.) sufficient for your project. If you're not sure what you'll need, you can purchase additional supplies from the shop during your consultation!
Ragfinery is a nonprofit business that diverts unwanted textiles from the waste stream. Through our job training program, we provide transitional jobs for low income residents. We also collaborate with local artists and community volunteers to repurpose unwanted garments and textiles, and we teach valuable upcycle skills to the general public through our workshop program, encouraging creative reuse and extending the life of existing materials. Ragfinery is a project of ReUse Works.
