Description

Remembrance and Reconciliation-Historical marker dedication ceremony and facilitated discussions Connecting the Dots Anne Arundel County, in partnership with the Equal Justice Initiative, Anne Arundel County and the City of Annapolis, erected Maryland's first Lynching Memorial marker on Calvert Street in Annapolis in September 2019. The marker was subsequently damaged by a bus and a new marker stands in its place. Upon further evaluation, we were relieved to find that the original marker was in sound condition and we have been able to find the marker a new home in partnership with the Anne Arundel County Public Library. This ceremony will be a re-dedication of the original marker at its new home. The ceremony will take place outside of the Severna Park Library (45 W. McKinsey Rd). There will be no parking other than handicapped parking in the library parking lot. Guests are asked to park at Woods Memorial Church (611 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd) and proceed to the library on the path. Following the ceremony we will have facilitated discussions by members of the Annapolis Coming to the Table Local Affliate Group and heavy snacks at the Woods Memorial Church. Additional details will be provided later to those who register. The event is free and we are accepting donations at https://mdlynchingmemorial.wixsite.com/aaco.
