Join Nassau Suffolk ABSW for a day of culturally-responsive wellness-themed activities to uplift the mind, body and soul! This year's annual Juneteenth celebration will lift the theme, Wellness Warriors! As Black Social Workers, we recognize the importance of liberating ourselves, families and communities from the multiple threats to our well-being. This community event will feature activities such as yoga, healthy eating, the mind-body connection, Dancing Across the Diaspora , financial literacy. Our dialogue groups will feature conversations about social justice and offer the Emotional Emancipation Circles model for addressing the realities of racial trauma. When you sign up for the celebration, you will receive an email with the schedule of events, so you can register for specific activities. The Nassau/Suffolk Association of Black Social Workers has been in existance since 1977. The Association provides a structure and forum through which Black social workers and workers in related fields of human services can exchange ideas and develop innovative programs that are responsive to the needs of individuals, families, communities and organizations.
