Description

Join us for an outdoor (en plein air) workshop of sketching, drawing, and painting in the Sears Sunken Garden. Artists will be on hand to guide participants in using their choice of material--colored pencil, pastels, markers, or watercolor. We will provide paper and painting supplies, though you should feel free to bring your own. We invite you to drop in anytime between 3:00-5:00 pm. Children accompanied by an adult are welcome. Masks are encouraged and all local COVID-19 recommendations will be observed. Co-hosted by GROWSS committee and SAIC at Homan Square. The Sears Sunken Garden is part of the Sears Headquarters, built in North Lawndale in the early 1900’s. Along with other significant features of the campus, it was registered as National Historic Landmark in 1978. The North Lawndale Community Coordinating Council’s GROWSS Committee is working with the community and renowned garden designers Piet Oudolf and Roy Diblik to restore the garden to its full splendor.
