Description

Break*Down Luncheon Pros and Cons of Home Rule Break*Down educational luncheon by PCRW seeks to: break down political issues, give you the raw facts, cover hot topics, provide excellent speakers and give monthly congressional updates. All are welcome! Studying the Home Rule form of government was the task of an 18-member citizen committee appointed in 2020 from across Rapid City. On May 20, this committee presented their proposal to the Rapid City Common City Council, recommending a move to a Home Rule type of government and the hiring of a city manager. The City Council will now review the proposal and determine the next course of action. Both sides of this proposal will be discussed during our June lunch program. Jason Green, who served on the Rapid City Home Rule Charter committee and is the former City Attorney for Rapid City, will present as a proponent of the proposed plan. Jordan Mason, spokesperson for a ballot question committee that is opposed to Home Rule, as well as a former Rapid City Councilman, will discuss opposition to the plan. Speaking FOR Home Rule : JASON GREEN Jason Green (photo pending) is an Associate General Counsel for Monument Health. A Black Hills native, Jason earned his bachelor’s degree from the South Dakota School of Mines & Technology and his law degree from the University of South Dakota School of Law. Jason is a member of the Rapid City Home Rule Charter Committee, the Black Hills Federal Credit Union Board of Directors and the Finance Committee of Wellfully. He is a Patriot Life Member of the NRA and a proud Republican. Speaking AGAINST Home Rule: JORDAN MASON Jordan Mason is a U.S. Navy veteran and the former Rapid City Ward 4 City Councilman. Currently Jordan owns and operates a national public relations and political consulting firm Launch Collective, LLC that is based here in Rapid City.
