SALARY RANGE: The position is a Grade 50 and provides for a weekly salary as follows: Minimum .........................$1,379.24 Step 1…………………………………1,446.95 Step 2 ..................................1,514.77 Step 3 ..................................1,582.72 Step 4 .................................1,650.35 Maximum...........................1,752.82 Note: Governing Collective Bargain Agreement expired on June 30, 2019. Wages subject to any newly- negotiated GWI increases. Plans, organizes, directs and coordinates the activities of the Building Maintenance division of the Public Works Department. Supervision of foremen, trades people, custodians and outside contractors either personally or through a Foreman is required. Performs a variety of complex technical tasks related to the maintenance and repair of City buildings and grounds. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from high school or vocational school, supplemented by a minimum of fifteen (15) units of technical or college level courses/training in building construction, maintenance, repair, architecture, mechanical or electrical engineering, or related field; six (6) years of increasingly responsible experience in the repair and maintenance of large and small buildings; and at least four (4) years of supervisory experience of more than ten people; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Adequate physical strength and agility, stamina, and visual and auditory acuity. Possession of valid State of Connecticut motor vehicle driver's license. SCOPE OF EXAMINATION: Oral examination weighted 50%. Qualified applicants who receive a passing score of at least 70 on the oral examination will also be ranked according to their education, training, and experience as indicated on Application Supplement #21-42 and weighted 50%.
